Michigan City Mainstreet Association’s First Friday Art Walk for July proves to be nothing short of spectacular with over 20 businesses within the Uptown Arts District, or downtown Michigan City, that evening. From 5pm to 8pm, guests can enjoy a cultural experience in the downtown area while independent businesses host different forms of artwork and the art galleries host opening receptions.
The Lubeznik Center for the Arts, Prince Galleries, the Southern Shore Art Association, Lakeside Gallery West and Blink Contemporary Art Gallery (outside the Uptown Arts District) will all be featuring their own respective opening receptions that evening that guests are welcome to enjoy. The Southern Shore Art Association will also be having their Art, Photo and Coffee Table Book Sale that evening.
The Art Walk also features direct conversations with area artists, performers and makers of things inside many of downtown’s businesses and offers cultural entertainment for the whole family. For example, Barker Mansion’s gardener Donna Allen will be on hand providing tours of the gardens and her work at the mansion. St. Paul’s Lutheran Church and School, 818 Franklin (weather permitting) will host a Sidewalk Chalk Contest open to all from 6pm to 7pm to take part in the downtown art.
