Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) is pleased to announce two new exhibitions on display in their NIPSCO Education Studios - with a free First Friday event to celebrate the official opening on October 1, 2021 from 4 - 7 PM (Central). All are welcome to attend and enjoy the new exhibitions: Radiant, black and white photography by George Kassal; and Thomas Frank's Evidence Based Approach series. LCA's summer blockbuster exhibition Bramson/Indiana/Lake will continue to be on display in the main galleries through October 15, 2021.

George Kassal's series of photographs are titled Radiant - a reference to the glowing or sending out of light. He uses high-key photography to emphasize the radiant properties that he see in the dunes and shoreline of Lake Michigan. "I am uplifted by this environment and feel that I can connect directly with the forces that shaped the land and the sense of time evident by the shifting sands." explains the artist.

In his series, Evidence Based Approach, Thomas Frank works in encaustics (hot wax) on panels to build up plumes of pigment that reference geographies of water, air, land and biodiversity of the world. The artist also references bodily forms like brainstems, bone or muscle structures, lobes and tumors. "I like to think of plumes as ambiguous spaces. They form and create a space, then they dissipate." says Frank.

All of LCA's galleries are open six (6) days per week and admission is always free! Come and visit for the October 1 First Friday celebration, or visit anytime! Private small group, docent led tours are available - call to arrange a time for your group - 219.874.4900.

There is still time to experience the summer blockbuster exhibition Bramson/Indiana/Lake featuring the work of Phyllis Bramson, Robert Indiana and Mayumi Lake, on display now through October 15.
