Northwest Health to Present First HealthyU Event Fatty Liver Disease: The Silent Killer

Did you know that one in three adults in the United States has nonalcoholic fatty liver disease or NAFLD,  and most don’t even know it?

To learn if you are at risk, join board-certified gastroenterologist Eric Steinberg, M.D. as he kicks off Northwest Health’s new HealthyU wellness series with Fatty Liver Disease: The Silent Killer. The seminar will be held from 5 – 6 p.m. on Thursday, Jan. 19, 2023 at the Healthcare Foundation of La Porte located at 140 East Shore Parkway in La Porte.

According to the National Institute of Diabetes & Digestive & Kidney Disease, NAFLD can lead to serious health conditions including cirrhosis, liver cancer or even death. They report that these risks can be more than twice as high for people living with diabetes, obesity, or high blood pressure.

During his talk, Dr. Steinberg will dive deep into how NAFLD is diagnosed, and the lifestyle changes and treatment options that help stop it from progressing, and potentially reverse it.

HealthyU is a new wellness series developed by Northwest Health to provide the community with relevant health and wellness topics. The free monthly seminars are geared to answer you and your families’ questions and provide simple and actionable steps to improve your quality of life and help you stay healthy.
