NIPSCO to Honor Community Leaders at Luminary Award Celebration

communityThe third annual NIPSCO Luminary Awards will be presented to five northern Indiana community leaders Thursday at a reception at the company’s Merrillville headquarters. In addition, NIPSCO will celebrate the completion of its 2014 Charity of Choice campaign, a company-wide fundraising initiative, benefiting Wounded Warrior and other local veterans groups.

Luminary Awards
Introduced in 2012, in celebration of the utility’s 100-year anniversary, the Luminary Awards were created to honor leaders and organizations for their outstanding commitment to strengthening local communities.

These individuals or groups have demonstrated outstanding commitment in five key areas: Community Leadership, Emergency Response, Education, Environment and Economic Development. NIPSCO will make a contribution to each award winner’s charity of choice.

Charity of Choice Campaign
The event also will mark the culmination of NIPSCO’s 2014 Charity of Choice campaign, benefiting Wounded Warrior and other local veterans groups. The company set a goal of raising $75,000 for the cause, through staff-led raffles, picnics and contests, in addition to volunteering. The funds and efforts will assist local veterans across the 32 counties served by the utility.
