New Prairie Wins La Porte County Girls Golf Tournament; Michigan City Second

mqt-girls-golf-2014-1The La Porte County Tournament opened the season for four high school girls golf teams on Monday at the Michigan City Municipal North Course (Par 60). Kara Blair was the individual medalist with a 67, propelling New Prairie to the win with a team score of 361.

Michigan City (368) finished second, led by Claire Werner with an 81. La Porte rounded out the team scoring with a 370 as Marquette finished as an incomplete with only three golfers.

Following Blair for New Prairie were Brianna Anderson (91), Katie Klimczak, Sydney Beall (102) and Camille Goethals (106).

Werner was followed by Tara Seizys (86), Maggie Seizys (97), Allie Mellen (104) and Cecelia Latchford (114) for Michigan City.

La Porte was paced by Hannah Schuster's 86, while Slicer teammates Alyssa Cardello (90), Zoe Bales (97), Rachel Hill (97) and Allyson Gary (103) followed.

Elaina Billys lead the way for Marquette, shooting 102 and was followed by Maggie Beeler, who shot 112. Natalie Post rounded out the scoring for the Blazers with a 113.

Next up for Michigan City is a trip to South Bend Riley, which is set for 10 a.m. on Wednesday.

Marquette also returns to action on Wednesday when they take part in the Caston Invitational. Tee time is set for 8 a.m.
