La Porte Circuit Court Judge Thomas Alevizos swore in eighteen new Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) volunteers on November 7, 2012. These CASA volunteers will represent the best interest of abused and neglected children in La Porte County. The new volunteers finished an intensive 6-week training session to better understand child abuse and neglect, the court process, report writing and the impact of substance abuse on children and families.

The CASA Program of La Porte County is now taking completed applications for their Spring 2013 training session. For more information on becoming a CASA volunteer visit the program’s website – www.lpcasa.com or contact Tabitha Dillner at tdillner@lpcasa.com.
