After a 4-0 start to the season, the Munster High School boys basketball team has climbed to the number five spot in the latest Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) poll released Monday. The Mustangs, who were ranked sixth last week, have reached the highest spot any team from Lake County has achieved so far this season.
Bowman Academy also jumped in the poll to the number six sot after the Eagles also began the season 4-0.
Lake Central (#12) is the only other area team ranked among the Top 20.
Chesterton, East Chicago Central and Hammond Bishop Noll all received votes in the poll.
On the girls side, the La Porte Slicers reached the number 10 overall ranking, the highest they have achieved this season. A 7-0 start helped La Porte reach that ranking.
Lake Central (8-1) was also represented, earning 137 points and taking the 14th spot in the poll.
Crown Point and Merrillville were among the teams unranked but receiving votes.
