Munster Boys Jump Four Spots in IBCA Poll; Lake Central, La Porte Girls Still Ranked

ibca-logoWith wins in their first two games, the Munster High School boys basketball team has jumped in the latest Indiana Basketball Coaches Association (IBCA) Top 20 poll, moving from No. 12 to No. 8 when the results were released on Monday. The Mustangs, the only Northwest Indiana team ranked in the poll, are coming off an 87-86 win at Portage.

The region kept their two teams ranked on the girls side of the poll, as Lake Central holds the No. 11 spot, with La Porte ranking in at No. 13. The Indians are 5-1 on the year , while the Slicers boast a perfect 4-0 mark following a strong victory over Crown Point.

A number of local teams were included in the "other teams receiving votes" category, specifically on the boys side. Bowman Academy, Chesterton, Crown Point, East Chicago Central, Gary Roosevelt, Bishop Noll, Lake Central, Merrillville, Michigan City, Marquette Catholic and Valparaiso all received votes.

Region teams also receiving votes on the girls side were Gary West Side and Bishop Noll.
