MQT Teams Go Four-for-Four on Thursday

marquette-highFour Marquette Catholic teams returned to action on Thursday and all four teams came home with a victory. Boys soccer traveled to Hebron, boys tennis traveled to Lake Station and volleyball headed to Wheeler while girls soccer hosted East Chicago.

Boys soccer took a 1-0 lead into the half at Hebron, and was able to break the game open in the second half, winning 5-2. The Blazers were led by senior Isaiah Papineau, who had 2 goals and an assist. William Connelly, Jack Disser and Ian Wood each contributed a goal. Boys soccer returns to action on Tuesday, September 17 when they host Elkhart Christian at 5:00 p.m.

Boys tennis traveled to Calumet tonight and had no problem with the host Warriors, winning 5-0. Boys tennis’ next match is Friday, September 13, when they host Lake Station at 4:30 p.m.

Volleyball traveled to Wheeler and brought home a decisive victory. The JV volleyball team will compete in the Michigan City JV Invitational this Saturday, starting at 10:00 a.m., while both teams return to action Wednesday, September 18 when they host Hanover Central starting at 5:30 p.m.

Marquette Catholic Girls Soccer captured another win tonight against East Chicago Central. Marquette Senior Madeline Wood got the ball rolling with an early goal and Sophomore Maggie Mellen soon followed with 2 more. Not to be outdone, Freshman Bella Kaplan finished the half with a goal off a corner from Wood. In the second half, Mellen rounded out her first hat-trick of the season making the score 5-0. A goal late in the game for East Chicago Central created a final score of 5-1. Marquette returns to action Saturday, September 14, with a home game against Michigan City at 9:30 a.m. GO BLAZERS!
