Midwest Region Crossover Volleyball Tournament Returns to Hammond

The largest NCAA volleyball tournament in the country is once again coming to the Hammond Sportsplex. The Great Midwest Athletic Conference (G-MAC), Great Lakes Intercollegiate Athletic Conference (GLIAC) and the Great Lakes Valley Conference (GLVC) come together for the 2023 Midwest Region Crossover.

The crossover tournament event will be held at the Hammond Sportsplex on October 13 & 14 with 38 teams competing in the 12-court facility. Each team will be guaranteed three matches and every session will utilize six courts at once.

“It is a privilege to represent the GLVC, GLIAC, Great Midwest, our 38 teams, and approximately 600 student-athletes in the largest NCAA volleyball event of its kind in the entire country,” said Jim Naumovich, GLVC Commissioner. “We are fortunate to enjoy great support from the South Shore Convention & Visitors Authority on this intra-regional event and to have access to a venue as impressive as the Hammond Sportsplex to host this Division II competition. We’d also like to acknowledge Purdue University Northwest for hosting three matches at their campus on October 13, to Molten for providing the match volleyballs, and to the local sponsors who provide the wonderful meals in the hospitality room.”

This is the 15th annual edition of the event and the third time the event will be held in Hammond.

“We are thrilled to have the Crossover Volleyball Tournament return to Northwest Indiana,” said David Uran, President/CEO of the SSCVA. “Our local hotels, restaurants and attractions surrounding the Hammond Sportsplex are expected to be inundated with collegiate athletes, coaches, and their respective fan base. This is the largest collegiate volleyball tourney in the nation, and we are excited to show them some great Hoosier hospitality! This tournament is estimated to bring in more than $500,000 of economic impact to Northwest Indiana.”

The GLVC will field a total of 14 teams, the G-MAC will have all 14 member institutions competing and the GLIAC will travel 10 different programs. The traditional all-tournament team with members from all three conferences will be announced following the conclusion of the event.
