Michigan City Wolves Wire May 2015

MC Wolves logoIt is hard to believe that we are down to the last five weeks of the school year. It has been wonderful sharing the many great things our students and teachers have done this year. The last month of school is always the time of year where we see our academic programs bear the most fruit.

Most recently, one of our students was awarded the Lily scholarship. The scholarship is a full-tuition, four-year scholarship from the Unity Foundation of La Porte County to the Indiana college of choice, plus an annual $900 stipend for required books and equipment.

We also have a National Merit Scholar, and 1 ROTC full scholarship winner ($180,000). If you recall, we had 3 named as National Merit Scholars in 2013, and we had 2 students receive the ROTC full scholarship just last year. Thanks to the wide array of programs offered at Michigan City High School, our students are able to enjoy a very unique personalized learning experience that is free. Because of these programs, our students are able to attend some of the best colleges and universities.

As we move through our final weeks, please continue to support our push to keep our students focused to finish strong. With important tests, End of Course Assessments, AP exams, and course final exams soon, it is vital that our students have great attendance. Some of our seniors have already started to show signs of senioritis, which can be an issue for those who still have required courses that are necessary to earn their diploma. With your support, we can easily improve our graduation rate of 85.8% from the class of 2014 to our goal of over 90% for this years graduating class. As always, please continue to follow us on our many social media sites, or call 219-873-2044 for more information concerning the excellent things taking place at Michigan City.
