Michigan City Wolves Wire, January 2016

MC Wolves logoI hope that you all had an enjoying and relaxing Winter Break. Unlike the previous two years, we were not bitten by the Polar Vortex and we are able to get the second semester started without any hiccups or weather delays. For those who are new to high school, the second semester signals the busy time of the year, which includes state-mandated testing such as the End of Course Assessments for English 10 and Algebra 1, ISTEP, and the Accuplacer assessment for all juniors, culminating with our commencement ceremony in June. As we move closer to these important events, we will be sending home information to be shared with all students and parents.

We recently received our unofficial A-F data for the 2014-15 school year and I am glad to say that it improved from the previous year. I am not able to announce the actual data, but when announced, you will see student improvement in all areas.

If you are looking for something fun to do with your family over the next couple of months, I highly encourage you to attend one of our many sporting events. We compete in one of the best conferences in the state of Indiana, the Duneland Athletic Conference, and our students do an excellent job of representing our community. I know that they would appreciate seeing as many of you as possible rooting them on to victory. Please stop in or call the athletic department about purchasing season passes for the family.

In my weekly messages, I always encourage parents and students to be engaged in the learning process. I hope you will continue to check Parent Access, communicate with guidance and teachers, and do what is needed to graduate college and career ready.
