Michigan City Wolves Wire, January 2015

MC Wolves logoFinally, welcome to the second semester! I hope that you and your students had a great holiday season and now have the energy to finish the 2014-15 school year strong. For those who are new to high school, the second semester signals the busy time of the year, which includes state mandated testing such as the End of Course Assessments for both English and Algebra 1, the Accuplacer assessment for all juniors, and culminating with our commencement ceremony in June. As we move closer to these important events, we will be sending home information to be shared with all students and parents.

In December’s Wolves Wire, I spoke of the improvement we experienced with more students passing the ECA’s and graduating college and career ready. We recently received our unofficial graduation rate for the 2014 school year and I am glad to say that it improved from the previous year. I am not able to announce the actual rate, but when announced, you will see the work that has been done by the entire school community over the last several years to improve the educational opportunities for all students. If you are looking for something fun to do with your family over the next couple of months, I highly encourage you to attend one of our many sporting events. We compete in one of the best conferences, the Duneland Athletic Conference, in the state of Indiana and our students do an excellent job of representing our community. I know that they would appreciate seeing as many of you as possible routing them on to victory. Please stop in or call the athletic department about purchasing season passes for the family.
