Michigan City Wolves Wire, December 2015

MC Wolves logoIt is truly the most wonderful time of the year. It’s hard to believe 2015 is almost over! We’ve been through a lot together, and there is much more to accomplish. Our staff and students are working hard to ensure that our vision and mission are meaningful and not just words on a poster hanging in the building. Our vision, Excellence for Everyone, and mission, which ensures all students will graduate college and career ready, cannot be fulfilled without the support of our parents and community partners. In the coming weeks, the Indiana Department will release preliminary A-F accountability grades for the 2014-15 school year and it is our hope that everyone’s hard work will lead to our status improving.

We have many activities taking place over the next four weeks, most importantly, final exams the week of December 14-18 and retesting for the End of Course Assessments for Algebra 1 and English 10. Students needing to take one or both of the End of Course Assessments will receive notice from administration about which day and time they will test. We have many programs in place for students who need additional supports academically. Please contact your student’s guidance counselor for more information.

As a Michigan City native (MC Rogers ‘92), I am looking forward to our Night of Champions Celebration on December 12th. The Michigan City Boys Basketball team will be in action against Indianapolis Arsenal Tech at 7:30 that evening. Please plan on joining us at halftime as we honor the 1966 State Champion Elston Red Devils Basketball team, which defeated Indianapolis Arsenal Tech to win the title, and the 1995 State Champion Michigan City Wolves Volleyball team.

Additionally, I would like to invite you to the Michigan City Area Schools “One City, One Sound” concert on Thursday, December 3rd at 7:00 p.m. For more information on all the great things our staff and students are doing, please follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and subscribe to the Wolves Wire. From all of us here at MCHS, have a wonderful holiday season and winter break.
