Michigan City Welcomes New City Gem in North Pointe Pavilion

“This is the beginning of modernizing Michigan City.”

Mayor Ron Meer proudly presented North Pointe Pavilion located on 6 On the Lake with a ribbon cutting ceremony on September 26, 2015. The brand new building offers a restaurant named Fire and Water, along with a large dock on the top floor for all to enjoy the million dollar view of Michigan City.

This new venue will bring people from near and far, and is designed for the people of the community whose hearts can’t leave the lake.

North Pointe Pavilion was started in 2012 as simply an idea, and now offers everything the people of Michigan City could want. With a view that will steal the breaths of many, and a restaurant with food that will make sure people keep coming back, it sure is the new place to be.

Beach goers can visit the pavilion and its new restrooms, showers, and locker room facilities inside the building. On ground level, a stage and open patio is set up for any live performers or speakers, and for people to enjoy food from Fire and Water.

Performing for the ribbon cutting was Cecy Santana, who took the stage and pulled people in with her flare and vibrant personality.

“Everything we have been doing is starting to stack up,” Mayor Meer began. “Soon, Chicago’s skyline will be able to see our accomplishments from across the lake.”

Mayor Meer has really taken a grasp on modernizing and creating a new Michigan City. With the city's newest addition officially open, Meer hopes that the rest of Michigan City's lakeshore and Washington Park can be updated with new and improved facilities for everyone to enjoy and use. The pavilion is for the people of the community, but it is also for attraction of those who have not yet experienced and lived the Michigan City lake front view.

The Fire and Water restaurant is located at the bottom part of the pavilion. They have control over the entire bottom floor for their restaurant. Eating in the openness of the building is sure to grab the attention of many people, and having the lake so close creates a sense of calm; it creates a place of peace and enjoyment.

“We are looking forward with the vision of Michigan City to make it a destination,” Moe Morueh said, the owner and operator of Fire and Water. “We want to make it like a resort with all the space we have.”
