Michigan City Police Department Completes Operation Pullover: Click It or Ticket

Michigan-City-PoliceThe Michigan City Police Department has just completed our participation in the Operation Pull Over (OPO) traffic enforcement grant Blitz #79 Seat Belt Enforcement that ran from Friday, May 9th thru Sunday, June 1, 2014, covering Memorial Weekend. During OPO Blitz 79 the Michigan City Police Department had 26 extra patrols working 65.5hrs of overtime, paid from Grant.

Officers stopped 183 vehicles. Officers wrote 156 citations; 134 for Seat Belt citations, 5 Suspended Drivers, 2 Speeding citations, 1 Automatic signal/stop sign citations and 14 Other citations.

The Michigan City Police Department had several arrest made by officers working this grant;

1 OWI A-Mis, 2 RLE A-Mis, 1 False Identity C-Mis, 1 Possession of Marijuana A-Mis

3 warrant arrest: (1 Probation violation for Dealing A-Fel, 1 OWI A-Mis, and 1 Public Intoxication B-Mis).

Officers also wrote 58 Warning citations and assisted with several calls for service.

Officers of the Michigan City Police Department will continue working the Traffic safety grants, including the Countywide DUI Task Force grant to improve the Quality of Life to the citizens of Michigan City.
