Michigan City Police Department Completes Operation Pull Over for July 2014

michigan-city-policeThe Michigan City Police Department has just completed our participation in the Operation Pull Over (OPO) traffic enforcement grant for July covering the 4th of July. During OPO traffic enforcement Michigan City Police Department had 31 extra patrols working 81 hours of overtime, paid from a grant.

Officers stopped 226 vehicles and wrote 195 citations; 175 for seat belt, 1 child restraint violation citation, 10 suspended drivers, one speeding citation, three license violations citations, and six other citations

12 arrest were made by officers working this grant;
4 warrant arrest; Parole violation (Burglary), OWI-felony, HTV for life-felony, Possession of Marijuana-Mis.
8 other arrest;
7 felony charges; 3-Possession of Heroin-Fel, Possession of Schedule II drug-Fel, Possession of schedule IV drug-Fel, Resisting Law Enforcement with a vehicle-Fel, Neglect of dependent-Fel.
6 misdemeanor charge; Possession of Paraphilia-Mis, Disorderly conduct-Mis, Public Intoxication-Mis. 3 Driving While Suspended prior-Mis.
A juvenile was also arrested for Resisting Law Enforcement and a Curfew violation.

Officers also wrote 70 warning tickets and assisted with several calls for service.

Officers of the Michigan City Police Department will continue working the Traffic safety grants, including the Countywide DUI Task Force grant to improve the Quality of Life to the citizens of Michigan City.
