Michigan City Police Department Announces Traffic Enforcement Patrols

michigan-city-policeThe Michigan City Police Department will soon have an increase in traffic as visitors come to the Michigan City with the arrival of warmer weather.

The Michigan City Police Department will have additional Officers working overtime assignments while participating in the Operation Pull Over Traffic enforcement grant. The Traffic Safety Patrols will be throughout the month of May and until our participation in the national and statewide 2015 “Click It or Ticket” enforcement mobilization occurring May 15-31, 2015. Officers will join more than 250 state and local law enforcement agencies, and thousands more across the country, to conduct high-visibility patrols encouraging drivers and passengers to buckle up.

Officers will be working with the primary focus of enforcing Seat belt, Child Restraint laws, and Motorcycle violations, Speeding, Following Too Closely, along with enforcing all other traffic laws throughout Michigan City.

Officers from the Michigan City Police Department will be making a special effort while participating in the national and statewide 2015 Click “It or Ticket” enforcement mobilization occurring May 15-31, 2015, to ensure all motorists are safe around the Memorial Day holiday weekend and encourage designated drivers.

With the warming temperatures, motorist should be aware of children playing outside, and always obey posted speed limits. Buckle up to reduce the risk of injury or death in a motor vehicle crash.

Officers of the Michigan City Police Department will continue working other traffic safety grants, including the Countywide DUI Task Force to improve the Quality of Life to the citizens of Michigan City.
