Michigan City High School Wolves Wire, September 2016

MC Wolves logoWelcome to the 2016-17 school year. We are experiencing an amazing beginning to the school year. The students are demonstrating great motivation and are highly engaged in the many activities made available at Michigan City High School.

The commitment from our city to our students is outstanding. The investment enables students to realize that our mission “Excellence For Everyone” is not just words on paper but what we as a community believe, support and put into action. This is a game changer for our students and city. It is noticeable throughout the building via our students’ attitudes and engagement. They project they are a Wolf from City and are proud to be here each day! We are grateful and humbled for the support!

The vision at Michigan City High School is Excellence for Everyone. The Wolves Wire, is filled with information regarding the many positive programs and opportunities MCHS students and staff encounter. MCHS is in year 3 of both Early College and Honors College programs. Both programs assist our students in graduating from high school with college credits. These two academically rigorous and challenging programs prepare students for the realities of college and careers they will face in their futures. These students currently face One-to-One technology daily in the classroom. The Technology Action Plan developed by teachers and administration is being implemented. This plan ensures our students are highly engaged in their learning and able to access their lessons whether at school or home.

MCHS students are also engrossed in highly technical, rigorous and relative education at the A.K. Smith Career Center. Currently 250 juniors and seniors are attending the center from MCHS. There are 13 dual credit and certificate programs offered at the A.K.S. preparing students for college and careers. These programs are partnered with leaders from industry and business that are on advisory boards to ensure state-of-the-art education for students.

Please continue to remain informed of the many programs taking place with your students via RDS and the school by continuing to read the Wolves Wire, by being involved with Parent Network, and following us on social media. Thank you for helping us start strong. I look forward to your continued support throughout the remainder of the year.
