We want to congratulate our band and choir students who qualified to compete at ISSMA solo and ensemble state contest! Our choir students are Jasmine Williams, Bailee Laux, Jill Dombkowski, Amanda Sparks, Bria Thomas, Adnie Wilson, Sara Poulin, McKenna Bluhm, Hayley Catchings, Felicia Skelton, Delaina Adams and Gwen Sardon. All of the ladies earned a gold medal at state! Our band students were Anna-Lisse Lenard winning gold and Isaiah Barczak winning silver!

Japanese Olympiad also qualified two teams to compete at the state level!

Our boys’ varsity swimming qualified for state in the 400 freestyle relay, 100 backstroke and 100 butterfly. Jack Smith took 5th place in both the 100 fly and 100 back! Our 400 relay took 19th in state, congratulations Jack Smith, Alek Marter, Connor Baker, and Luke Heitmann! Peter Gondeck qualified and competed at state in diving!

We have just finished our first round of ISTEP testing for our sophomores. Our second and final round of testing this school year begins April 23rd and 24th. Please make sure your student continues to attend school daily and on-time. A consistent pattern in attending their classes will help them earn a qualifying score on the standardized testing.

Third quarter wraps-up on Thursday, March 7th, please make sure your student has turned in all assignments and have studied for end of the quarter tests. Our seniors are meeting with counselors to finish their final checklist before graduation in June. Seniors are finalizing applications for scholarships. Local scholarships are all posted on the high school website, counselors are available to answer questions and provide input.

Congratulations to the MCHS Student Council for organizing a fantastic Winter Spirit Week. Most students and many faculty and staff participated in the dress up days, hallways were decorated, and a pep rally was attended by all MCHS students to celebrate our winter sports teams.

We are grateful to local law enforcement for their continued partnership in keeping our students safe and our building secure. In February, our local law-enforcement completed their annual locker search with the K-9 unit.

As always, we are here to ensure students graduate college and career ready. Please continue to follow us on Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and like us on Facebook to remain informed of all the great things taking place at MCHS!
