Michigan City High School Wolves Wire, February – March 2017

Wolves_Wire_February-March_2017Congratulations to the MCHS Student Council for organizing a fantastic Winter Spirit Week at MCHS. Most students and many faculty and staff participated in the theme dress days, hallways were decorated by each class, Winter Olympics were held on a snowy & frigid night, a spirit filled pep rally was attended by all MCHS students to celebrate winter sport teams and it was all topped off by an exciting game and big win by our MCHS Boys Basketball team against Lake Central High School.

February and March are very busy months for our MCHS students. Counselors continue to meet with students to discuss 2017-18 schedules and also meet with the Class of 2017 making sure they are on track to graduate on June 4, 2017. As I wrote in last month’s Wolves Wire, it is important that you are involved and discuss course selections with your student. This is the time to discuss your student’s future after high school and how the selections made impact College and Career opportunities once they graduate. MCHS staff partners with you to prepare your student to be College and Career ready. Seniors should be finalizing applications to colleges, universities or technical centers along with researching and applying for scholarships. The counselors are available to answer questions and provide input.

February begins Part 1 of the ISTEP+ for Grade 10 students. This is the Graduating Qualifying Exam for Grade 10 students. Part 1 of the Mathematics ISTEP+ is administered on the morning of February 28th. English/Language Arts is administered in the morning of March 1st. After-school ISTEP+ help sessions begin on Wednesday, February 15th, from 2:30–3:30 in room O 102. Sessions run Monday – Thursday, 2:30-3:30 through February and March.

As always, we are here to ensure students graduate college and career ready. Please continue to follow us on Twitter, Instagram, You Tube, and like us on Facebook to remain informed of all the great things taking place at Michigan City High School. Go Wolves!
