Michigan City High School Wolves Wire, December 2018

MC Wolves logoHappy Holidays my Fellow Wolves,
It is truly the most wonderful time of year. It is hard to believe 2018 is almost over! We’ve seen so many accomplishments this year, and there is more to do. Our staff and students are working hard to ensure that our vision and mission are meaningful and not just words on a poster hanging in the building. Our vision, Excellence for Everyone!, and mission, which ensures all students will graduate college and career ready, cannot be fulfilled without the support of our parents and community partners.

We are excited to share with you that Michigan City High School has been named the AP TIP IN School of the YEAR. This is based on our increased Advanced Placement course offerings, increased number of students taking AP classes, and increased qualifying scores on the AP exams.

Our varsity football team won sectionals, regionals and made their second appearance at semi-state! We had three sectional championships this fall, girls golf, volleyball and football! We are so proud of our student athletes.

Your student’s attendance to school is very important. The high school will be a very busy place over the next few weeks as we come to the end of our first semester. We want our students to experience every opportunity to ensure a positive outcome at the conclusion of first semester. Retesting for ISTEP is 12/3-12/4. Any student needing to take ISTEP will receive a notice from administration regarding the day and time they will test. Final exams are scheduled for December 20th and 21st. On December 20th students will take final exams for periods 1,3, 5, and 7, on December 21th students will take final exams for periods 2,4, 6 and 8.

We are an E-Learning school starting second semester. If we have a snow day starting in January, all students will access their E-Learning from their teacher’s site. This can be accessed at mcas.k12.in.us, and then go to the drop down menu for select a school (choose Michigan City High School), then you will see on the top menu bar Teacher Sites. Every teacher has an E-Learning link on their teacher site, and will have lessons posted by 9am on a snow day.

“One City, One Sound” will be December 6th, we hope you will be able to come out and enjoy the talents of Michigan City Area Schools. For more information on all activities and events, please follow us on Twitter, like us on Facebook, and subscribe to the Wolves Wire.

From all of us at MCHS to all of you, have a wonderful Holiday Season and a Happy New Year!
