Michigan City High School Teachers and Students Lift Spirits with Post-It Surprise

Michigan City High School students found a surprise when they arrived at school Friday morning: A group of teachers had written positive messages on Post-it notes -- and stuck them to all 2,000 lockers, along with classroom doors, windows, computer screens and even restroom mirrors.

“You are awesome!” “You are not alone.” “Be brave.” “Got your back.” “You are powerful.”

A few members of the school’s Poetry Club, Japanese Club and Bible Club stayed after school Thursday to help teachers with the Post-it posting. After about an hour of sticking and taping, the school was transformed.

And of course there were lots of pics taken to post on their social media pages.”

By the end of the day Friday, most of the Post-its were still in place. “I think that’s the best indicator of how much the kids appreciated this,” said Geyer. “There is such a positive spirit at our school. We really are a family.”
