Michigan City High School Students and Teachers Participate in Chess Tournament

MCHS-Teachers-and-Students-Chess-Tournament-2015The Michigan City High School Chess Club sponsored a teacher versus student Tournament in the high school media center on April 28.

The thrilling tourney featured a number of very close matches; the first round went to the teachers (5 to 4) but the MCHS Chess Club members came back to win the second round (6 to 3).

Participants in the tournament included:

Tyler Fawley, Dominic Wren, Alex Kroczek, Keith Patejdl, Kyle Patejdl, Jude Gussman, Alijah George, Ben Boyd, and Brandon Fetters

Teachers
Justin Biggs (Assistant Principal), Mark Marz (Science), Mandy Chastain (English), Lenore Hoard (Special Education), Robert Gray (Science), Adam Goebel (Social Studies), Mike Tsugawa (Foreign Language), Mike Livovich (English), Brian Parker (Math), and Frank Haughee (English).

Refreshments for the event were provided by Hacienda.

Members of the Michigan City High School Chess Club have had a successful season, participating in a number of local, regional, state, tournaments. Jude Gussman, Tyler Fawley, Alexander Kroczek, and Dominic Wren have been among the top competitors at these contests.

The MCHS Chess club is sponsored by MCHS Teachers Shari Mullins, Brian Parker and Amy Wojasinski-Labis.
