These ceremonies occurred at the Disabled American Veterans Hall, St. Paul’s Church, American Legion Post 37 for the Marine Corps League, Purdue University Northwest-Westville, and the Veterans Day ceremony at MCHS.

Major Tom McGrath, the Senior Marine Instructor, complimented the cadets on their flexibility and dedication. “Despite the time our cadets spend on our extracurricular activities- Drill Team, which practices at 5:45 am, Rifle Team and Cyber Patriot team that practices after school, along with our community service- they still make time to participate in these important ceremonies that honor our veterans.”

Master Sergeant Jeff Benak, the Marine Instructor, echoed McGrath’s sentiments on the cadets. “Some of these kids really surprise me, that, with all that they do, they are still able to keep their grades up. They probably know, that if their grades fall, we will curtail their extra curriculars.”

The cadets will remain busy up to the Christmas Break. They have 3 military skills competitions scheduled, the first being MCHS’s competition on Nov 18th. Events, which include military drill, physical fitness, and academics, start at 8:30 am and will go until approximately 3:00 pm. Spectators are welcome, admission is free. The cadets will also be supporting the One City One Sound concert on December 14th, along with other holiday events, such as the Marine Corps League Toys for Tots at the Lighthouse Mall on November 24th.
