Michigan City High School Choral Students Win Gold, Qualify for State

MCHS-Choral-Students-Win-Gold-Qualify-for-State-2019_01 On Saturday, February 2, 31 Michigan City High School vocalists traveled to Kankakee Valley Middle School in Wheatfield, Indiana, to compete in the ISSMA District Solo and Ensemble Contest.

The following students performed solos and received Gold Ratings in their respective divisions: Jamya Gill (freshman), Jasmine Berndt (freshman), Isabelle Eaton (freshman), Savannah Holley (freshman), Gwen Sardon (sophomore), Michael Lakin (sophomore), Delaina Adams (sophomore), Madison Whittenburg (sophomore), Sara Poulin (junior), Felicia Skelton (junior), Jasmine Williams (senior), Hayley Catchings (senior), Ashlee Orman (senior), Aglaja Petrova (senior), Bria Thomas (senior), McKenna Bluhm (senior), and Bailee Laux (senior).

Soloists Sara Poulin, Felicia Skelton, Jasmine Williams, Gwen Sardon, Delaina Adams, Hayley Catchings, McKenna Bluhm, and Bailee Laux received Gold Ratings in Division I, with music of the highest difficulty level. They will be traveling to the State ISSMA contest on Saturday, February 16 in Indianapolis.

The following students performed in a small ensemble and received a Gold Rating: Gwen Sardon (sophomore), Rachel Sutor (sophomore), Raven Stansil (sophomore), Delaina Adams (sophomore), Isabelle Eaton (freshman), and Chanay Hammond (sophomore).

MCHS-Choral-Students-Win-Gold-Qualify-for-State-2019_02 Another small ensemble composed of seniors Alexius Thompson, Ashlee Orman, and Samarah Williams also received a Gold Rating.

The following students performed in a large ensemble and received a Gold Rating in Division I, with music of the highest difficulty level. These vocalists will also be heading to the State ISSMA Competition on February 16: Bria Thomas (senior), Amanda Sparks (senior), Sara Poulin (junior), Bailee Laux (senior), Adnie Wilson (senior), Felicia Skelton (junior), Jill Dombkowski (senior), McKenna Bluhm (senior), and Jasmine Williams (senior).

The following students performed solos and received Silver Ratings in their respective divisions: Emmaleah Rosales (freshman), Emily Cavin (sophomore), Chanay Hammond (sophomore), Savannah Lowe (junior), Abigail Evans (junior), and Adnie Wilson (senior).

The small ensemble composed of Alexandria Hahn (junior), Savannah Lowe (junior), Abigail Pytynia (senior), Isabelle Eaton (freshman), Samarah Williams (senior), and Ashlee Orman (senior) received a Silver Rating.
