Michigan City Boys Track & Field Team Working Hard to Share a Vision of Success

mchs-boys-track-2013-rotThe Michigan City High School boys' track & field team is working to be a threat to other schools and re-imagine the possibilities of their potential. After a few years of head coach transitions, the team feels they have finally found stability with new head coach Lucas Snyder. The team now shares a vision of success and is working hard to get there.

Coach Michael Liss explained, “Our team's strength is our freshman class. They are the future and I am seeing some quality performances come out of some of them. I am also seeing some leadership at a young age. It is something we look forward to.”

The team's youth is vital for a team looking to improve the program within the next few years. If the team has any area to improve upon, it is the belief that they can compete, continued Liss. The team did not finish with a winning record this season, but Liss is confident that it does not mean the team has failed.

“It is something that has to come from within. Within the last five years it has been a waning situation. Unfortunately I don’t think our competition takes us as a serious threat. Anytime your competition doesn’t fear you as a threat that is a problem,” said Liss.

Fortunately, the team keeps its' spirits high and is optimistic about the immediate and distant future. The Wolves are eager to advance as far as possible in the post season, and get as many boys to State Meet in Bloomington as possible. The five outgoing seniors are looking to end their seasons on a high note. In the distant future, the Wolves are looking to build upon the strength shown in the underclassmen and putting Michigan City track back on the radar.
