If you will, please allow me a personal indulgence. Earlier this week I had to say goodbye to my older dog, Ulani. She'd been so healthy for twelve years, then had a quick decline. In the past year, she has been friend and mentor to Phoebe, my MHS adoptee.
I revisited my blog to read memorials to my other pets and came across this post from 2010. At the time I knew it applied to my own beliefs, but now I know it's something I share with everyone in the Michiana Humane Society community. It's what we want for all pets, and especially for the MHS pets that find forever homes.
Thank you for making that pact with your dogs.
