New Diagnostic and Treatment Facility Complements Adjacent Hospital and Physician Offices

Although Porter Regional Hospital is now open, work continues on the adjoining Medical Plaza, which will be opening later this fall. The Medical Plaza is part of Porter Health Care System's vision to create a fully integrated, convenient medical campus.

When complete, the three-story, 60,000 square foot medical plaza will house the Cancer Care Center, the Center for Women's Health and physician offices.

Cancer Care Center

The Cancer Care Center captures the essence of a fully integrated center by having new diagnostics and treatment capabilities in one location. This allows for an efficient patient experience while expediting the ability of Porter's clinical teams to collaborate and provide real-time, multi-disciplinary expertise.

The new Center will include medical oncology, hematology, infusion services, radiation therapy and PET/CT scanning.

Porter has also invested heavily in advanced treatment platforms. The Center will have two linear accelerators, reducing wait times for patients to get the treatment they need. Porter's new technology will deliver doses 60 percent faster than conventional accelerators, which significantly reduces treatment times and increases patient comfort. It uses real-time diagnostic data while delivering powerful radiation beams shaped precisely to the tumor to protect healthy surrounding tissue.

Center for Women's Health

The Center for Women's Health will offer a comfortable and convenient location to access outpatient diagnostic and treatment services. When designing the Center, Porter looked at premier centers nation wide and incorporated the best ideas.

The services at the Center include digital mammography, breast ultrasound, bone density scans, stereotactic and ultrasound guided breast biopsies, screening, and patient education and consultation. The Center will also offer 3D Mammograms, which allow doctors to 'look through' tissue and better pinpoint the locations of suspect cells and tumor masses.

Going Up

The 40,000 square feet of space on the Plaza's second and third floors is being divided into physician offices. At this time, Porter is working closely with several physician groups to design a space that helps them in their day-to-day practice. With so many services in one convenient location, the Medical Plaza will be one-stop-shopping for health care.
