Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana Volunteer Opportunities in Whiting & Merrillville

Meals-On-Wheels-NWI-New-Logo Let’s Do Lunch is an ad campaign the national Meals on Wheels program has sponsored throughout the United states. Have you noticed the bright yellow billboards stating “Let’s Do Lunch?” Why not consider spending your lunch hour from work delivering meals in your community? A recent illness/lengthy family visit has caused a shortage of drivers in Whiting and Merrillville and we could really use your assistance. If you would like to help your neighbors, why not deliver meals where you live and work? We are having orientation/training on Tuesday, September 11, at 10:00 am in our offices at 8446 Virginia Street, Merrillville. And, again on Thursdday, September 20 at 1 pm. Training lasts one hour and ends with a tour of our building.

Please call Volunteer Manager, Joan Vith, at 756-3663 to reserve your seat in our next training session. According to Joan, “Volunteers who support their communities are healthier and more active than those retirees who choose not to volunteer. Why not join our team and help yourself and your neighbors? Please consider helping Meals on Wheels with your support of our route deliveries.“

Founded in 1977, Meals on Wheels of Northwest Indiana is non-profit serving Lake County, Indiana. Meals on Wheels delivers meals to those in need five days a week using community volunteers. More information about Meals on Wheels can be found at www.mownwi.org
