Band and choral students from Krueger and Barker Middle Schools earned high marks at the recent Indiana State School Music Association's district instrumental and vocal solo and ensemble contests. Both events were held at Kankakee Valley Middle School. The instrumental contest took place on January 26; the choral contest took place on February 2.
Krueger Middle School choral students received the following medals:
- A Group 5 Ensemble won Gold: Jordan Higginbotham, Anthony O'Neill, Chace Ferrell, Kyeren Littlejohn
- A Group 4 Ensemble won Silver: Marianna Cain, Eliza Kestner, Isabella Garcia, Makalinn Jenks, Lilliah Moye, Alexis Todd, Antriana Flowers, and Jurnee Shannon
- Two students received Gold for Group 5 Solos: Arielle Stone and Jurnee Shannon
- Five students received gold for Group 4 Solos: Makalinn Jenks, Eliza Kestner, Marianna Cain, Tristin Johnson, and Isabella Garcia

- Ava Galindo, Trumpet - Silver
- Tyler Gault, Trumpet - Gold
- Alex Mota-Lopez, Alto Sax - Gold
Barker Middle School band students received the following medals:
- Nathan East, trumpet - Silver
- Jessica Geigler, trumpet - Gold
- Kyra Krachinski, flute - Gold
- Zac Hogan, trumpet - Silver
- Dabria Adams, flute - Silver
- Jameer Nelson, bass clarinet - Gold
