MCAS Alum Receives One Region Award

lizniemiecCongratulations to Elizabeth Niemiec, Michigan City High School graduate (Class of 2012), who recently received the "Promise of the Future" Award from One Region, an organization committed to the improvement of the quality of life in Northwest Indiana. She was recognized on September 25, during One Region's 2013 Annual Luncheon at the Radisson Star Plaza in Merrillville.

Niemiec, who is currently a student at Butler University, received the Prudential Spirit of Community Award as the top youth volunteer in Indiana when she was a high school junior. She founded The Little Wish Foundation, which has been granting wishes to pediatric cancer patients in Indiana for several years. Her services reach many children's hospitals in Indiana, including South Bend Children's Memorial Hospital, Riley Hospital, Peyton Manning Children's Hospital and Lutheran Children's Hospital in Fort Wayne. The Little Wish Foundation has raised more than $200,000 over the past three years.
