La Porte Mayor Blair Milo formally announced today that Nicholas (Nick) Minich will be appointed as the incoming City Engineer on August 18. Previous City Engineer Dale Clingerman retired in July after eight years of service. Originally from La Porte, Nick received his Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineering from Valparaiso University and is finishing his final requirement for his Master’s Degree in Sustainable Engineering from the University of Colorado.
Nick has worked for multiple engineering firms as well as the Indiana Department of Transportation and brings a wide variety of experience in municipal engineering with projects in cities in Colorado, California and most recently Indiana. Having worked on numerous projects in multiple engineering fields including engineering design, community energy and sustainability, Nick is joining the City from SEH of Indiana where he worked closely with the La Porte County economic development team. Nick and his wife, Michelle, welcomed their first child in July 2014 and are excited to have their family involved in the development and growth of Nick’s hometown!
