Match Funding to Benefit Michigan City Salvation Army

Match-Funding-to-Benefit-Michigan-City-Salvation-ArmyThrough December 31, a generous anonymous donor will match contributions up to $7,500 made to the Michigan City Salvation Army Major Building Repairs Fund under Unity Foundation of La Porte County.

The fund was originally established in late 2007 so that the Salvation Army could continue its focus of providing “soup, soap and salvation” in a safe and secure building. Its goal is to assist with major repairs and building equipment replacement, thereby easing the financial burden of maintaining the building.

The fund has been a critical resource in supporting big projects, such as repairing the food pantry floor as that area had faced closure from the health department.

The project possibilities through the Michigan City Salvation Army Major Building Repairs Fund include, but are not limited to: Replacement or major repairs to the roof, flooring, elevator, HVAC and plumbing.

It also will pay for structural repairs if they aren’t covered by insurance.

The current match opportunity already inspired a second donor to make a $1,000 contribution to the fund – leaving $6,500 available. Persons wishing to donate may send a check to Unity Foundation, PO Box 527, Michigan City, IN 46361, with “Salvation Army Match” in the memo line.
