Marquette Girls Win; Boys Scrimmage

Marquette-CatholicThe Marquette Catholic girls and boys basketball teams were in action on Friday. The girls basketball team hosted Lakeland Christian Academy while the boys held their annual intrasquad scrimmage.

The girls basketball team came out flat in the first quarter of their game as they allowed the Cougars to take a 16-point advantage. But the Blazers bounced back with a decisive 21-3 run that allowed them to hold a three-point lead at the half. The second half was back and forth, but the Blazers were able to hold on for the victory, winning 44-41. The team is back in action on Tuesday, December 3 when they travel to South Bend Career Academy. Tipoff is set for 6:30 p.m. central time.

Also on Friday, the boys basketball team showcased their talent with a three point contest, dunk contest and a JV vs. Varsity scrimmage. The Blazers (No. 1 in the Class 1A SuperHoopsPlus.com preseason rankings) kickoff their season on Tuesday, November 26 at the Tournament of Champions against Rock Ridge (IL). Tip off is set for 5:30 p.m.
