Marquette Catholic High School Students Participate in Adopt-A-Beach

A group of seven Marquette Catholic High School students volunteered to participate in the annual Adopt-A-Beach activity on Saturday morning, September 15, 2012, at the Shoreland Hills beach, Stop 31. This local effort was a part of a worldwide endeavor to obtain a “snapshot” of how our Earth’s coastal environments are doing.

Students monitored physical, chemical, and biological parameters of the water, recorded meteorological conditions, and collected and catalogued liter found on the beach. All data were then reported to the Alliance for the Great Lakes database.
