Marquette Catholic High School Offers Internships to Students

mqt-internships-2014Marquette Catholic High School’s internship program, coordinated by Meg Richardson, the school’s alumni relations director, begins its second year this fall.

Interested students must complete an application and essay the semester prior to the internship – seniors are given priority, but all students are welcome to apply. A complete internship consists of at least 75 hours of work with 9 to 15 of these hours spent reporting. Participating students will receive 1 credit hour for each completed internship.

This year, four Marquette seniors applied and were accepted into this year’s program.

Libbey Cook has been placed with Darling Boutique; Hunter Moldenhauer is interning with Dr. Wolf of Wolf Family Dentistry; Elliott Sass is working with Tim Haas at Hass Engineering and Jenael Weist’s internship is with Handley Elementary School in LaPorte.

Marquette’s Principal, Jim White states, “At Marquette we know that every child is an individual, which is why we give each student a truly unique and invaluable experience.

And because we are a college preparatory school, we create opportunities that prepare our students for college and beyond. We have created our internship program with several goals in mind. Students develop a strong and solid work ethic, they gain hands on experience in a career or field of their interest, they learn professionalism and responsibility and the students develop communication skills for the workplace. We are very thankful to the businesses who are partnering with us in this endeavor and we certainly look forward to its growth.”
