Marquette Catholic High School Hires Casey Martin as New Baseball Coach

MARTIN CASEYMarquette Catholic High School is pleased to announce the appointment of Mr. Casey Martin as the new head coach for Blazer Baseball.

Coach Martin brings strong experience to the program. He was, most recently, an assistant coach at Chesterton High School and he, himself, played first base for the University of Notre Dame.

Athletic Director, Anthony Mytas states, “We have hired the best baseball coach we could. He has experience coaching at the high school level and playing at the college level. He understands the game and has a great ability to communicate. He is a perfect fit for what we are trying to accomplish here.”

In 2010, Coach Martin earned his Bachelor’s Degree from the University of Notre Dame in History and Computer Applications. He most recently spent six months in Beijing, China teaching English. In addition to coaching, Casey will be teaching Social Studies and Digital Citizenship. He will also reside on campus, as a Resident Dean.

“Casey can help our students get to the next level. Because he has been there, he has a deep appreciation for the balances that are required for student athletes. We are fortunate to hire a coach that brings the total package,” says Marquette’s Principal James G. White.

Coach Martin states, “First, I need to thank Principal White and Mr. Mytas for giving me the opportunity to coach at MQT. It is an honor to become part of the Blazer family and I look forward to working with everyone here as we continue to build the program. I am proud to follow in the footsteps of Coach Shinn, whose reputation in the area is something I will aspire to everyday as head coach. I want to thank him, especially, for everything he has done for this school, and this program. I could not be more excited about getting out on the field in the spring and I cannot wait to bring my brand of baseball to Marquette.”
