Marquette Catholic High School Begins Study Abroad Program

mqt-LEMBCKEMr. James G. White, principal at Marquette Catholic High School, announces today that the school’s first student has departed to study abroad for one semester at St. Denis International School in Loches, France.

Sophomore, Olivia Lembcke, the daughter of Roslyn Davila of Chesterton, Indiana, will be enrolled at both Marquette and St. Denis for the fall semester of the 2014-2015 academic year.

While abroad, Olivia will be studying courses typical of a student enrolled at St. Denis. Some classes will be in English and some in French – however, this is a full immersion program. During the week Olivia will be staying in the school’s dormitory and on the weekends she will be spending time with a host family in Paris – as the school is approximately two hours from Paris, by train.

Meg Richardson, Marquette’s alumni relations director and global studies coordinator, escorted Olivia to St. Denis. Once Olivia is acclimated and settled, Miss Richardson will travel to Barcelona, Spain to secure similar partnerships with schools in that area.

Mr White states, “Olivia is the perfect example of the type of student suited for our study abroad program. She is bright, confident and eager to take advantage of opportunities. A study abroad program was obviously the next phase in our growing global studies curriculum. Our students are excited and grabbing on to each piece we introduce to them. They truly do understand that the world is their classroom and the importance of being a global citizen.
