Marquette Catholic Boys Basketball Team Has a Comeback and Win Over Lew Wallace

marquette-catholic-logoThe Marquette Catholic Boys Basketball team completed an impressive comeback to take down Lew Wallace, a 3A school, at the SchoolCenter this afternoon. The Blazers were down 15 points at the end of the 1st quarter and it looked like the much larger Lew Wallace High School was going to blow out the Blazers on Homecoming. But the Blazers chipped away at the lead and were down 11 at the half. A run in the 4th quarter sparked by multiple basket and foul situations by both Nathan Flores and Braxton Miller allowed the Blazers to take a narrow lead into the final minute. With the Hornets playing for a last second bucket a mad dash for the basketball ensued.

But it was Sophomore JoVonte Peals that was able to pull down the final rebound as time expired, giving the Blazers a the narrow 68-67. Combined with a 54-34 Junior Varsity victory as well as a victory by the Girls Basketball squad on Senior Night made for a great end to Catholic Schools Week for the Blazers.

The Boys Basketball team will return to action on Friday, February 8, when they host New Buffalo. JV tips off at 5:30, followed by Varsity at 7:00.
