Marquette Catholic Boys Basketball Team Claim Victory Over Wheeler Bearcats

marquette-catholic-logoThe Marquette Catholic Boys Basketball team got back to their winning ways tonight against Wheeler High School. The JV started off the night by easily dispensing of the Bearcat JV squad 54-19. In the Varsity contest, the Blazers started off sluggish, trailing early on. But a strong 2nd quarter allowed the Blazers to take a 24-23 lead into halftime. The second half was back and forth but big plays by the Blazers sparked a run that increased the lead to 10. A late run by the Bearcats cut the lead to 5, but consistent free throw shooting down the stretch capped the game and allowed the Blazers to walk away with another Greater South Shore Conference victory.

The Blazers were led by Sophomore JoVonte Peals who had 19 points, 8 rebounds and 4 blocks. Jasmin Bieberovikj aslo contributed with 10 points and 12 rebounds. The Blazers return to action tomorrow night when they host Lake Station. JV tips off at 6:00 followed by Varsity at 7:30.
