Boys Basketball
The marquette Catholic boys basketball team had their home opener tonight when they hosted River Forest in a Greater South Shore COnference contest. Following a 52-40 JV victory the Blazer varsity squad took the court. The Ingots came out with a lot of energy for the first half and were able to hang with the Blazers, but a quick run to start the second half turned the Blazers lead into double digits and they were able to extend the lead and coast the rest of the way as they won 66-32. The boys basketball team returns to action on Friday, December 18, 2015 when they travel to Hanover Central. JV tip off is set for 5:30 with varsity to follow.
Girls Basketball
The Marquette Catholic girls basketball team returned to action on Saturday evening when they traveled to Elkhart Christian. The Blazers had no trouble with the host Eagles as the JV won 44-19. In the varsity contest, the Blazers opened the game with a 25-2 run and never looked back as they won 75-25. Four Blazers scored in double figures lead by Emma Nolan with 19 followed by Sophia Nolan with 18. Marquette Catholic girls basketball is back in action on Tuesday, December 15 at Calumet and Friday, December 18 against Seton Academy. JV tip off is set for 5:30, with varsity to follow.
