Lubeznik Center for the Arts to Host Read Between the Crimes: An Evening with Two Mystery Writers

Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) is presenting Read Between the Crimes: An Evening with Two Mystery Writers on Friday, May 5 from 5 to 8 p.m.

Local writers, Nancy Nau Sullivan and Sandra L. Young will read excerpts of their newest books and participate in a question-and-answer session for LCA’s May first Friday event, Read Between the Crimes: An Evening with Two Mystery Writers. Readings will begin at 5:45 p.m.

Sullivan and Young will also be signing books after the question-and-answer session. Their books will be available for purchase at LCA.

Sullivan invented the life and times of Blanche Murninghan in her four-part mystery series, which debuted with Saving Tuna Street in 2020. Sullivan’s other titles in this series include Trouble Down Mexico WayMission Improbable: Vietnam and A Deadly Irish Secret, which will be released on July 11 from Light Messages/Torchflame. A former newspaper journalist, Sullivan taught English in Argentina, in the Peace Corps in Mexico and at a boys’ prison in Florida. Sullivan lives in Northwest Indiana.

Young is a first-time author sharing her passion for vintage clothing with her mystery novel, Divine Vintage. The novel follows vintage boutique owner, Tess Burton, when modeling an Edwardian trousseau gown opens her mind to witness a century-old murder, especially as her version disputes local lore. Young also lives in Northwest Indiana.

All are welcome to this free event at LCA and are encouraged to participate in the discussion and ask questions. LCA’s newest exhibition, “Citizen,” will also be on display for visitors to view before and after the program.

LCA free First Friday cultural programs take place on the first Friday of each month. The annual schedule includes everything from exhibition openings to live music to youth dance performances. All events feature free admission, complimentary appetizers and a cash bar. A typical First Friday sees between 150 and 400 visitors of all ages.
