Lubeznik Center for the Arts Presents RUNWAYrevolution

RUNWAY-Revolution-1Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) presents RUNWAYrevolution, a fashion show in two acts, on Saturday, April 20 at 2 pm.

Act one will feature six student designers showcasing unique designs from the International Academy of Design & Technology in Chicago, Illinois Institute of Art (Chicago), Western Michigan University, Central Michigan University, and Dominican University/Fashion Group International of Chicago. Judges, with backgrounds in fashion retail and design, will score outfits on wear-ability, workmanship, and creative design. Attendees will vote to determine which student designer wins the People’s Choice Award. One student designer, based on combined scoring from attendees and judges, will be presented with the “Best of Show” award and an opportunity to showcase their work in an exhibition at LCA.

Act two features Rocked Out Wedding Wear, the work of Silver Moon Chicago’s Liz Meyer. Meyer previously created designs for Ricky Martin and the women of Lilith Fair and is currently working with Aerosmith.

Liz’s work is exquisite in detail, inspired by fashion and film of the thirties and forties, but appeals to today’s rock stars,” said Becky Jascoviak, Marketing Director. “We are excited Liz agreed to showcase her work in this year’s show.”

RUNWAY-Revolution-2

RUNWAYrevolution also marks the introduction of the Gallery Shop’s bridal registry and expanded offerings in functional art, allowing guests to browse and purchase artful choices in wedding gifts or begin their own registry that day. “Artists featured in the Gallery Shop specialize in handcrafted one-of-a-kind décor and accessories,” said Gallery Shop Director, Esther Guncheon.

Admission to RUNWAYrevolution is $35 in advance and $40 at the door for the general public. LCA members receive a $5 admission discount. Tickets may be purchased online at http://bit.ly/RUNWAYrevolution or at LCA. Doors will open at 1 pm with seating beginning at 1:30 pm. Nibbles and bubbly will be served.
