Lubeznik Center for the Arts Presents Open Mic Night

Open-Mic-Jan-4Songs and stories start the New Year off in style at Lubeznik Center for the Arts. First Fridays in January welcomes you, the audience and patrons, to the stage with the inaugural LCA Open Mic Night, January 4, 2013. Participants are asked to sign up ahead of time for a performance slot. Each artist will have 3-8 minutes to perform. Performances can be vocal or instrumental songs, storytellings, poems, dramatic interpretations, comedy, or some other presentation suitable for an Open Mic. Patrons interested in performing can sign up for free at http://bit.ly/LCAOpenMic. On January 4, 2013, participants are asked to check-in at 5 pm, while the actual performances will take place from 5:30-8 pm (central).

This is the first of what we hope will be many more of these types of events,” said Tim Rounds, Facility Manager at Lubeznik Center for the Arts and coordinator of the event. “We are excited to be able offer our venue to local poets, storytellers, songwriters, singers, and the like in order to give them a voice and opportunity to perform their work.

Performers can sign up at http://bit.ly/LCAOpenMic. Patrons, plan on arriving early to view the exhibitions before and between performance acts. Exhibitions on display include Iconoclastic!, The Common Good, Ice Abstracts, Winter Solstice, and Hues and Views. Admission is free and beverages and light snacks will be available. First Fridays @ 5 is an event held at select venues throughout the Uptown Arts District in Michigan City, Indiana on the first Friday of each month from 5-8 pm (central).

The architecturally iconic Lubeznik Center for the Arts stands just steps away from Michigan City's lakefront. In addition to a full exhibition schedule in five galleries, the LCA is home to an outdoor art collection; a Gallery Shop featuring hand crafted, artisan items; plus classes, performances and after-hours events. Open Monday–Wednesday & Friday 10 am to 5 pm, Thursday 2 pm to 7 pm, and Weekends 11 am to 4 pm (Central Time).
