Lubeznik Center for the Arts Offering Spring Classes in 2017

Lubeznik-Spring-Classes-2017Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) spring class offerings for children, teens and adults are currently open for registration. Weekly classes are available for those looking to develop new skills and workshops for those looking to flex their creative muscles. Classes fill quickly, so please register early to secure your spot!

VISUAL ARTS
Adult classes (for ages 16 and up) in painting, drawing and photography are available this session. Discover a broad range of concepts, strategies and processes in Abstract Painting with artist Jay Zerbe. For those who have completed that class, and want to take their skills to the next level, Jay is now offering Abstract Painting II. Other classes include Photography with George Kassal, Drawing Bootcamp for artists of all levels and the new Drawing II, both with Michelle Wiser.

YOUNG ARTISTS
LCA provides a variety of classes for young artists from ages 7 to 12. Choose from Cookies & Canvas with Dori Huber and the new Painting & Drawing with the Masters with Alicia Rutzen.

Parents can pre-register for Kid's Summer Camps: Inspired by Nature from July 10 through 21 and STEAM: Science, Technology, Art and Math from July 31 through August 4.

The Michigan City Public Art Committee directs a certain amount of money towards its Children's Scholarship Fund which funds art classes for children in Michigan City. This scholarship is for residents ages 5 to 18. The process includes a simple one-page application found at www.lubeznikcenter.org.

WORKSHOPS
Single-session workshops are available for those who are tight-on-time or maybe just looking for a day to treat themselves. Photographer George Kassal is offering two new workshops: Digital Camera Orientation for the beginner digital photographer and Photographing Your Artwork for artists looking to gain knowledge on preparing digital images for documentation. Participants looking to create original jewelry can take the new Beaded Necklace workshop with Sam Lakin. Fused Glass with Twyla Butler will introduce students to the fundamentals of glass fusing creating a tile and jewelry. Felted Vessel, with Brenda Hutchings, is a fun new offering that teaches participants wet felting techniques using merino wool fibers.

FAMILY WORKSHOP
Families with children ages six and up can enjoy some creative time together in Felted Wishing Stones with Brenda Hutchings. Using wet felting techniques with colorful wool roving, each participant will create their own wish stone to treasure.
