Lubeznik-Center-for-the-Arts-Summer-Class-and-Workshop-2017Lubeznik Center for the Arts (LCA) summer classes and camps are now open for registration. Classes start June 19th and run through August. Students will get the opportunity to explore their creative side, learn a new skill, and find inspiration for their own work in one of the many classes offered this summer.

New classes this season include a workshop that the whole family can enjoy. Treasure Boxes, taught by Holly Schroeder, brings parents and children (ages six and over) together in this hands-on workshop. Famlies will use mixed media to decorate cigar boxes. Students can add a personal touch to their project by bringing in their own items.

Additional new classes for adults include Funky Fabric Printing, a one-day workshop taught by Susan Atwell. Funky Fabric Printing takes place during Michigan Ctiy's "Maker Madness" weekend and is perfect for the environmentally conscious artist. Students will create edgy Art Fabric utilizing funky designs with thick dyes and upcycled objects. The finished product can be used for future sewing and quilting projects. Participants of Funky Fabric Printing can sign up for Totes Adorbz to create a tote with their Art Fabric that is downright adorable and functional for everyday use.

New class offerings for young artists include Scripts, Scenes, and Stories. Children ages 8-12 will work collaboratively to learn the basics of acting, improvisation, and storytelling in this six session course. Students will read-aloud from scripts, work on vocalization techniques, participate in collaborative games and in scene work., In Creative Painting for Teens (ages 13 and up) students will study several artistic movements and methods. Participants will combine everyday marterials and traditional painting techniques to create their own unique paintings.

Inspired by Nature returns this summer as one of two summer camps offered at LCA. Young artists will combine nature and art during this two week camp. Inspired by contemporary environmental artists, students will build a collaborative outdoor installation piece, invent growing sculptures, and build their own land art.
