Lt. Governor Sue Ellspermann Welcomes Downtown La Porte to the Indiana Main Street Program

city-of-la-porteLieutenant Governor Sue Ellspermann announced that Downtown La Porte will join more than 100 other Indiana Main Street (IMS) Communities dedicated to the revitalization of their downtown areas.

“I am pleased to welcome Downtown La Porte to the Indiana Main Street Program,” said Lt. Governor Ellspermann. “Viable downtowns are crucial to the economic health of our state. By joining Indiana Main Street, La Porte has taken an important step to developing a thriving downtown.”

The IMS is founded on a four point approach to downtown development: organization, design, promotion, and economic restructuring. Each of these points represents an aspect of the downtown which is vital in the restoration efforts of the community.

“We are proud to have Downtown La Porte as part of the Indiana Main Street family. The members of the community and City of La Porte are very supportive of the organization’s revitalization efforts and understand the importance of a thriving downtown,” said Shae Kmicikewycz, Program Manager for Indiana Main Street.

The IMS is administered by the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs (OCRA).
