During the 2013-2014 school year, La Porte High School introduced the “Learn Today to Excel Tomorrow” initiative. This project showcases and recognizes former Slicers who are living out the Learn Today to Excel Tomorrow mission statement with excellence. In the first year of this initiative, school corporation employees provided nominations and inductees to recognize the exemplary performances of Slicer graduates.
The LPHS staff and administration would like to invite the community and would appreciate their help in recognizing other Slicer success stories. We are now opening nominations to our community. The nomination form, as well as information regarding the process and the procedures of the initiative, are now available online by using the web link below.

Process and Procedures
The process for election into the Learn Today to Excel Tomorrow initiative is as follows:
A. Proper completion of the nomination form.
B. Nomination forms are available in the school office or can be downloaded at the bottom of this page. You can also make your nomination online by clicking the Online Nomination Form link at the bottom of this page.
C. The School Leadership Team shall meet and select, based on the nomination forms, those individuals that will be selected each year. Consensus of the committee shall determine who is inducted each year.
D. The names of those selected, along with their biographical material will be forwarded to the media. A press release will be created by the Assistant Principal and sent to media outlets in the inductees’ area of residence. The Assistant Principal will then have the displays created for each inductee.
E. Inductees will be honored at the LPHS Pride Banquet in May.
F. Learn Today to Excel Tomorrow displays will be exhibited in prominent locations throughout LPHS. After being on display for one year, a poster will be sent to the inductee or his/her representative.
Deadlines
- Nomination forms are due to the office by December 18th, 2015.
- Selection will be made by the end of January, 2015.
- Notification of those selected and to the media will be completed during January and February.
- Posters will be created and displayed during February.
Criteria for induction into the Learn Today to Excel Tomorrow initiative is as follows:
A. Nominee must be a La Porte High School graduate.
B. Nominee should have achieved a post-secondary degree or have demonstrated excellence in his/her profession.
C. Anyone can nominate a nominee as long as the nominee meets the necessary requirements and the nominator properly completes the nomination form.
