La Porte High School hosted the Indiana State School Music Association (ISSMA) Jazz Festival on March 7 and 8. La Porte was one of five sites for this contest in the state.
The LPHS Jazz Band, Lab Band, Studio Band and Show Choir each received a Gold Division Rating for their performances. The Boston and Kesling Middle School Jazz Bands also each received Gold Division Ratings. The Boston Show Choir received a Silver Division Rating. Forty-nine bands, orchestras, combos and choirs from northwest Indiana participated in the annual event. Groups are evaluated by a panel of three judges and are awarded a Gold, Silver, or Bronze Rating, or a Participation Award.
A Gold Rating is the highest rating possible.
